Dr. Theo De Jager is not only a notable South African farmer but also a farmer leader. He was elected President of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) at the WFO General Assembly held in Helsinki, Finland in June 2017. He is also the President of the Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) since May 2013, and was previously the President of the Pan-African Farmers’ Organisation (PAFO) from December 2014 until February 2017.


Furthermore, Dr. De Jager is the Deputy President of AgriSA since 2008, where he manages the African liaison and is responsible for land reform, transformation in agriculture and farmer development. In his quest to protect farmers, he became the co-founder of Agri All Africa, a company that assists small farmers in Africa to transition to commercial farming.


Dr. De Jager has been efficiently farming in South Africa since 1997. He grows timber and organic subtropical fruits such as avocadoes, mangoes and macadamia nuts, he has recently expanded his business to include goats. For his relentless efforts in agriculture he was voted the South African Agriculturalist of the Year in 2016 by the Agricultural Writers SA.


Besides agriculture, Dr. De Jager is also passionate about philosophy and aviation, he lives in South Africa with his wife and three children.
