Science & extension. What do we know and what do we not know yet?
Based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, Tom Bruulsema is Chief Scientist with IPNI Canada, applying science in support of the fertilizer industry's nutrient stewardship programs. He has served for over 24 years with the International Plant Nutrition Institute, starting in 1994 as Director for Eastern Canada and the Northeastern USA, then as Phosphorus Program Director from 2015 to 2019, and as Vice-President for the the Americas from 2017 to June 2019.
Dr. Bruulsema holds a PhD in Soil Science from Cornell University, and has been recognized as Fellow by the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, and the Canadian Society of Agronomy. He has experience in precision farming research, as a research associate at the University of Minnesota (1994), and in subtropical agricultural cropping systems research, as an agronomist with the Mennonite Central Committee in Bangladesh (1986-1990).
